What is your alarm clock usually set to from Monday to Friday?
5:35 AM
What about Saturday & Sunday?
It's not set, but my body clock barely let's me sleep passed 6:30.
What is your favorite dish to eat or cook?
Sandwiches, any day, anytime, anywhere. Big, hearty, messy sandwiches. Side of pickles.
I love to cook risotto from scratch. It's very relaxing. I've cooked it so much now that I no longer want to eat it though, unfortunately.
What/who inspired your love of food and why?
Mom for sure. I lived abroad quite a bit and she really encouraged me to try absolutely everything. Then, The Food Network took off and watching Anthony Bourdain and reading his books took me down the private restaurant path and then yada yada, I find myself cooking for a bunch of hungry kids!
What are your interests outside of work?
Gardening. Biking. Home improvements. Upcycling and repurposing things.
Tell us about one of your favorite experiences working at Kids & Company.
I wear compression socks for circulation from years of working on my feet. Twins at the daycare saw me wearing them as I was wearing shorts at the time, and thought how cool that looked and that they wanted to do it too.
The next day mom came in with the two kids explaining they were going for a sporty/baseball look. I laughed. I wish I wore high socks for the sporty look.
What is something that a Kidco child has taught you?
On numerous occasions, snacks, and a constant stream of them are far more important than a sit down meal time any day.
What’s for dinner tonight?
A big pan of roast potatoes, peppers, eggplant and Italian sausages.
